Can’t seem to pair with iPod touch on OS X Yosemite

I have Mac OS X 10.10.4 and iPod touch running iOS 8.4.1. The pairing didn’t work for me. Settings > Bluetooth found the iPod and the iPod found my Mac, they both connected ok, but the iKeyboardRemote pairing option gets stuck at progress bar “waiting for connection… (Settings->General->Bluetooth->Your computer)” even though the pairing already succeeded natively on Mac.

Not sure if some system interop issue or something else. I had higher hopes for this app :(
