All of the negative reviews are most likely people that have iphone 4s. Im no rocket scientist but in all of the iPhone 4 forums everyone is having bluetooth issues. Maybe in the new ios it will be fixed but for now, nothing.

Does what it says! Basic remote control app to control iPhone/iPad from the Mac. Handy for when I have my iPhone plugged into my stereo to stream music and dont want to get up to pause or skip a song. This program will start up the Apple music player on your iPhone/Pad but you can also use it to control other prog. such as Pandora by opening them directly on the iPhone/Pad. Uses bluetooth -- nice since it works independent of having both devices on the network, downside is bluetooth has limited range. Functions as a BT keyboard, so you cant use this and a keyboard with the iPhone at the same time. Pairing instuctions are a bit cryptic in the program. You need to have your Mac and iPhone/Pad already paired over BT. Then you open your bluetooth settings on the iPhone and select your Mac (will then have a checkmark next to it). After that the remote should work.
Were all lazy and want to control things remotely. When I figured out that I could do this using this app, I was ecstactic! Once I figured out how to pair it with my iPhone, it works just as I would expect. Skip, pause, play, volume control, its basic controls that you would want in a remote. The only thing you cant do is select which album you want to listen to. Not a problem for me because Im so indecisive that I usually just set it to shuffle through all songs anyway. Great free app that I would recommend to anyone whos lazy like me.
it is very nice app .. if there will be more features … like paging and other stuff it will be perfect. react very fast easy pairing ( via bluetooth ).
ok guys here it is how to pair with mac turn on personal hotspot on your iPhone an click enable bluetooth, next head on to you mac if you havent already click on bluetooth icon right next to the wifi symbol. from the drop down screen you will see devices if your iphone doesnt appear there just click on setup bluetooth device once you set it up your iphone should appear under devices. next click connect to network it will connect via bluetooth and your iphone should have a blue bar across the top of the screen. from there head on over ikeyboardremote, click pair and it will pair. once its pair you can turn off hot spot. you dont have to pair anymore simply have your bluetooth on when ever you wanna use it an hit connect
Make sure your computer is set to "Discoverable" otherwise the pairing will not work. Works as designed. Really only a music player controller, not a keyboard.
using OS X 10.8.2 and iOS 6.0.1, iOS device always says "Connection Unsuccessful, your device is not supported".
Anyone who cant get this to work does not understand the stupid way the bluetooth connects between the iPhone and the Mac. You have to search for the device from the iPhone.. not the Mac! make your mac discoverable then find it from the iphone. The other way it will say device not supported. You can forward or rewind which would be nice but it works on my Mountain Lion Macbookpro to my iPhone 4s. I the leave the iphone in the dock and play music as I from work from my computer. Even though it could and should be able to do more it will get a 5 stars for doing what it says it can do and for being free! (Consider a paid upgrade that can do more? My car bluetooth can completley manage my phone, no reason my mac shouldnt be able to)
Although this app is free, Id love to be compensated for the time wasted in trying to get it to work
This app is great! Easy to connect over bluetooth, now I can control my iphone from my mac as I get my work done. Good job, I think Ill be using this app every day!!
Thank you very much for this, extremely useful and works perfectly for me. All the best -DR
Pair this device successfully, seems to require that you forget existing bluetooth keyboards - or at least that allowed me to pair. I "forgot" all bluetooth devices, and then attempted to pair with my Macbook… finally, 10 minutes of futzing around, and I achieved success… albeit, for what? Once it is paired, it manages only *very simple* remote functions: • home button function • lock function • pictures access • play, rewind, fast forward functions • volume off, down, and up (note: media functions operate blind to visual interface, except for volume controls. This means that you cant see what the remote is controlling. Additionally, while the app is active, the F1-F12 keys are also paired to the same functions as listed above, just like on your Macbook. Should you like to truly use the majority of your *keyboard*, as in the "keyboard" part of the applications name (iKeyboardRemote), you will need to buy the authors iKeyboard product ($10). It is apparently this $10 iKeyboard app which actually supports alpha-numeric keyboard input... So the name iKeyboardRemote, is largely not representative of the function provided. Nonetheless, the app does deliver on the functionality described by the author. This makes it a solid 2/5 in my book.
Can’t seem to get this to work with my iPhone 5s…
Worked as described, easy to set up. Works with 10.8 and iOS7. I am using this in conjunction with 3rd party Mac app Airfoil to send my iPhone audio to the Mac, and now I can control the playback via the Mac. Excellent!
I have Mac OS X 10.10.4 and iPod touch running iOS 8.4.1. The pairing didn’t work for me. Settings > Bluetooth found the iPod and the iPod found my Mac, they both connected ok, but the iKeyboardRemote pairing option gets stuck at progress bar “waiting for connection… (Settings->General->Bluetooth->Your computer)” even though the pairing already succeeded natively on Mac. Not sure if some system interop issue or something else. I had higher hopes for this app :(
Love this app so far! Kind of a pain in the butt to get working (check other reviews for better instructions), but once it’s working, it works great. Allows you to remotely control volume up/down, back/play/skip song, lock/unlock, and hit the home button. The pictures button doesn’t work for me on OS X El Capitan, but I don’t really need that. I do wish there were more remote controls though, like some type of tap/input functionality, or at least a button that launches the music app. I use this app on a daily basis to control music from my iPhone plugged into my stereo across my room, and constantly use the play/back/skip, volume up/down buttons all the time. Makes listening to music when I’m not close to my iPhone a lot easier.
